Royal Properties, Inc. is pleased to announce they have brokered the sale of the historic Mamaroneck Playhouse at 243 Mamaroneck Avenue in Mamaroneck, New York. Jeff Kintzer and Craig Benson of Royal Properties, Inc. were the sole brokers in this transaction.
This former movie theater is a 17,814 square foot building situated on the main shopping corridor of Mamaroneck, NY. The Mamaroneck Playhouse opened its doors in 1925 as a single-screen balcony theatre. “Wild, Wild Suzanne”, a silent movie was the first movie to play in the newly built Playhouse. It was renovated in 1970, when it was converted into four theatres, two on the ground level and two on the balcony level. As a former vaudeville house, the auditorium walls, lobby, and facade are all still original. The building also has 12 dressing rooms and the original stage. The Playhouse provided 1,100 seats and 4 screens. The new owners plan to renovate the existing building and reopen as a six screen theatre in the Fall of 2018.
